One Special day
branding & event site

Brand Strategy, Digital design, Digital development

One Special Day is a gaming fundraising event supported by developers and gamers all over the world.

As part of the event, SpecialEffect required the Branding and subsequent design and build of an online auction-based platform to distribute gaming bundles, in exchange for charitable donations.

Introduction

BrandAsylum began working with SpecialEffect Charity through a referral, which came from a longstanding client of ours, based in Oxfordshire. SpecialEffect work to enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities by facilitating their access to video games and technology SpecialEffect Charity required the services of an experienced and innovative web site provider to create a new web platform for their ‘One Special Day’ annual fundraising event.

The Challenge

BrandAsylum were hired to create a brand around the event as part of a campaign to generate brand awareness for the One Special Day event throughout the gaming community and beyond. The event is the biggest single fundraising day of the year for SpecialEffect as gaming companies, meaning it was extremely important for them to spread as much awareness as possible, ensuring their life altering work could have a positive impact on as many people as possible.

The Solution

We created a ‘sub-brand’ for One Special Day and applied it to a bespoke event website. The site needed to be able to be easily editable, have the ability to share content and an integrate a variety of APIs. As with all our sites the One Special Day website was built responsively and with auction style functionality. The One Special Day brand was developed to be inkeeping with the SpecialEffect master brand and is used across a variety of support merchandising from clothing to game controllers and social media assets.

UX & Design

The core directive of the creative design and build brief was ‘mobile first’ layout. This was required to target the user’s activity, on-the-go. Using Workpress we were able to create the perfect platform for SpecialEffect. Due to the WordPress CMS interface the charity is able to update the site as and when they require. Due to the fast past, global outreach of the charity this is often at unsocialble hours which is all part of the Brand Asylum service.

The BrandAsylum team have had a significant impact on the success of my charity over recent years. I would wholeheartedly recommend BrandAsylum for a role in any creative project to which they could contribute through their excellent planning, creativity and high standards of professionalism. If engaged, BrandAsylum would make a highly significant and positive impact on any company’s brand/design/marketing efforts..
